WHO WE ARE
We believe in the power of better streets and spaces to make towns and cities more successful, healthy, and enjoyable for everyone; and we live and work to make this happen. We’re transport planners, landscape architects, traffic engineers, and urban designers who know we need to work collaboratively and inclusively to get the best outcomes. We thrive on the inherent complexity of urban environments, and we’re comfortable with the fact that there’s almost never a single ‘right answer’. We’re not just professionals who make recommendations, we’re articulate and effective advocates for change; knowing that even the best ideas need the support of convincing arguments. |
WHAT WE DO
We make towns and cities better for all through shaping their streets and spaces; and our design portfolio is full of built projects that have had this effect in town and city centres, in high streets, at major stations, in local centres and public spaces, along busy corridors, and in new developments. These projects are often the result of the transport and public realm strategies, landscape and movement masterplans, transport assessments, and design guidance we prepare, and are also influenced by the research that we are regularly commissioned to undertake. We are experienced design advisers to towns and cities across the UK and are increasingly asked to work with politicians, council officers, communities and developers to bridge the gap between policy and action in relation to some of the most pressing yet controversial transport and planning priorities. Driven by environmental, public health, placemaking and economic priorities, everything we do seeks to make walking, cycling and public transport more attractive; to minimise the need for private car travel in urban areas; and to maximise the value of the public realm in meeting the challenges of climate change, urban growth, inactive lifestyles, and social exclusion. We innovate yet still deliver, always looking for better ways of approaching conventional tasks; and we work creatively across our different areas of expertise to ensure that what we do best meets the needs of those it’s meant to benefit. |
