STRATEGY |
St Albans Public Realm Delivery Strategy | St Albans City + District Council
Our strategy was focused on the development of a range of interventions that are deliverable in respect of their feasibility, functionality and design quality; their value for money; and their contribution to achieving the established District Vision. To achieve this we began with a workshop, attended by all of the key people involved with the delivery and subsequent maintenance of the public realm. Obtaining their input and buy-in to this process has been critical in insuring that the Delivery Strategy for St Albans is adopted in its entirety and continues to guide change beyond its first 12 months.
At the heart of the study is a broad range of prioritised and costed interventions for the public realm, providing a clear plan for the delivery of these initiatives. Importantly, these interventions have been developed to do more that make the public realm look good, they address the current functional short-comings by encouraging positive behaviour in all those who use it. To ensure that the final output of this study does not simply gather dust once handed over, a knowledge transfer workshop forms an integral part of the project, making certain that the values and actions it contains are embedded in the work of officers as they take it forward. |
