ROYAL COLLEGE STREET
Urban Movement were commissioned by LB Camden to provide design advice on the landmark Royal College Street cycling scheme, as well as help provide material to promote and sell the scheme to the public. We provided on-call advice and support during the design of the scheme, ranging from support with high level principles to detailed engineering and product support. Following this, we were asked to create a high quality photorealistic visualisation to help communicate the scheme to the public, as well as elected members and campaign groups, so that they would be bought into the scheme and increase the support of it. COLLEGE GARDENS As part of a commission from LB Camden, we were asked to support them in the design of this key junction, on the exemplary Royal College Street Extension Scheme. |

The commission comprised of, first of all, going out on site with the client/design team and formulating an understanding of how the junction works, and what needs to be accommodated within the proposals.
With this understanding of the junction, the second part of the commission was a junction design event with the design team. Here, we discussed possible options for the junction, and reviewed the council’s initial designs. The resulting proposal, as a result of this design method, was innovative and deliverable.
CAMDEN TOWN + CLERKENWELL
We have been commissioned by Camden Council + Camden Cycling Campaign to explore options to improve conditions for cycling at two key Camden locations; the junction of Parkway and Delancey Street in Camden Town and a stretch of street in Holborn, starting from the Holborn Gyratory and going along Theobolds and Clerkenwell Road.
The aim of the project is to look at the ‘art of the possible’ and consider designs that will not only improve conditions for cycling, but also improve the public realm as a whole and make for better streets, better places to be.
We are working closely with CCC and LBC in order to deliver designs that are grounded in reality but meet the brief of creating aspirations.
When we have reached a set of agreed designs for the two locations we will also create high quality 3DS Max photorealistic visualisations to help CCC communicate their ideas to a wider audience and raise support.
